The
Soul Seekers book 1
By Alyson
Noel
★★★★☆
“I have no idea what Paloma looks like-what she'll be
like. I have no idea what to expect. I should've asked more questions. I
should've used the last ten hours to grill Chay until he broke-until he
confided every dark and dirty secret Paloma is hiding. Instead, I chose to eat.
And read. And dream about some phantom boy with smooth brown skin, icy-blue
eyes, and long glossy black hair-a boy I've never even met in real life. Lot of
good it did me.”
Daire
Santos has never had a home. Growing up with her mom Jennika as her only
family, she has travelled the world for her mom’s job as a Hollywood makeup
artist- ironic because they spend so little time in Hollywood. When Jennika’s job
takes Daire to Morocco, something very unusual happens- Daire has a total
‘mental breakdown’, as the doctors call it. But it wasn’t a hallucination, it
was real. And so Daire is plunged into the magickal world of the Seekers, and
finds that she holds great power. But like they say, with great power comes
great responsibility. When Daire’s grandmother falls ill and Daire uncovers a
plot to take over the world, Daire must confront the Bone Keeper and, along
with her love interest Dace, keep the Coyotes from taking over the world.
A
mystic and magical novel, this book was everything I expected- and more. I love
how Enchantment seemed to be this tiny, unimportant town, but when you looked
deeper as Xotchl was able to, that’s when the magick revealed itself. Having
Spirit Guides was also a nice touch to the story, as was the ‘flying’. What was
also really cool was how Cade and Dace were like, the ‘dark’ twin and the
‘light’ twin. And I was laughing at Daire because even though Paloma kept
telling her she had nothing to fear from Dace, Daire was like, I can’t trust my
instincts because they’re telling me to kiss him(she kept on thinking she had
to avoid him also.)! The only thing lacking in this book was that I feel Daire
as a person could’ve been developed a little more- the insight to her character
was pretty good already, but I still feel like I was slightly disconnected from
her character, but maybe it’s just me. Read it and tell me what you think!!!
